For me, being able to do bridal makeup is one the most rewarding parts of being a Makeup Artist. Not only do I get to be apart of one of the most important days of a woman's life, I also get to make her look stunningly beautiful. Traditionally, most woman want to have an understated, polished "pretty" look on their wedding day. Usually they would obtain this look by using sheer champagne colors and muted tones on the eyes and a barely there lip. Other brides (my untraditional beauties) opt for a more Hollywood glam, bold eye or red lip look. Luckily for these two blushing bride types, neither one of them are wrong. It boils down to personal preference and how you envision yourself on your big day.
Let's take my FAVORITE untraditional bride, Nadia for example. Nadia was recommended to me by a close family friend. Upon introduction, I was informed that Nadia was the quintessential minimalist. An athlete turned University Track Coach. She (in theory) should have been on my list of traditional brides. Nadia however had a different plan for her look. On her wedding day, Nadia traded in her ChapStick (not even lip gloss), and moisturizer makeup regiment for a bold purple smoky eye and pouty powder pink lip. To say the least, her choice of "out of the box" makeup was a hit with her loved ones and husband. I'm so glad that Nadia trusted me to help her liberate her FIERCE image.
